Article: “A guardsman’s life is terrible hard”
Recently I’ve
read an article “A guardsman’s life is terrible hard” by Paul Spiers . Author points
out saddening fact about Queen soldiers - they have been posted out behind the
railings of Buckingham Palace because of irritating tourists. What sightseers do, exceeds all expectations! Most of them are
just making fun of the guards who are on
duty, by dancing next to them, trying to mimic them, shouting and saying all
kinds of things etc.
People wanting
to grab attention of the royal guards are just making their work more and more
difficult. Tourists don’t realize that they guards not standing there as a tourist
attraction but are professionally trained soldiers on royal duty to protect the
Queen who should be respected at their work not made fun of! Guardsman are on
duty for 24h or 48hwith 2h on sentry and
4h on different tasks. They so dedicated
to their duty that until they’re released from shift they won’t go to the bathroom, take a break, or
eat . On a hot summer day there even were cases of Guardsman faint from the
heat!

When you decide to join the royal guard you should know what you are doing. Tourists have been behaving badly for decades so everyone knows what this job involves.
