Trend following

 It is not hard to notice that in the 21st century, almost every teenager is following trends. Social media are the main cause, but chain stores also have a massive influence. One time  I visited my friend, she showed me something called "pop it", some kind of silicone fidget toy. I didn't see any sense in buying it because it's just plastic, but it was popular back then, so she had to have it like any other kid. 

Yes, some trends are good. Nowadays, many people are going back to old fashion, taking something from their parents or even grandparents closets or going thrifting. It's nice because we are giving our old clothes another life. But it shows how big an influence trends have on people. We are willing to buy and do many things just because we want to be like others. It's not always good that's why we should be more assertive to trends.
