Edible flowers
When you choose to eat plants – fruits, vegetables mushrooms etc. it’s worth to know that you can also eat flowers. They are not only a beautiful decoration but some of them can be very tasty. But before we choose to place them on our plates we have to make sure they are edible, because some of them can be poisonous or have health consequences!
Most popular edible flowers are : rose petals, elderberry flowers, sunflower and gladiolus which we can find in our gardens. What’s curious it’s also mint, rosemary and basil flowers.
Chefs are using flowers in their dishes because they are giving not only the visual effect (beautiful colour) but also freshness and extraordinary taste. Some flowers can be stuffed (zucchini flowers), eaten in risotto (clover) or added for colour to our salads (cornflowers).
Other edible very interesting flowers are : hollyhock, Johnny-jump-up, lavender, lemon bergamot, marigold.
